Up the Happy Rainbow
I wrote in this post about the artist call that Ellen Hutson is having. This is my second card for that challenge.
I used one of the greetings from the "Up the Happy" stamp set, designed by Julie Ebersole for Essentials by Ellen. I stamped that in Versafine Onyx Black on a white A2-size panel, using my MISTI to get perfect placement.
For the brushstroke stripes, I used one of the stamps from Avery Elle's "Brushed" set. I placed it in my MISTI, and stamped it on a clear plastic quilting template grid sheet. I used that impression to help me determine spacing on my panel. I knew I wanted to use the smallest heart stamp from "All Inside," so I based the spacing of my brushstrokes on that. I stamped the strokes in Distress inks: Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, & Wilted Violet, double-stamping to get a good impression. With each stripe, I moved the panel up & to the right, to create the arc.
When I'd stamped all of my stripes, I used one of the "Stitched Borders 1" dies from Pretty Pink Posh to die cut the top edge of my panel. I stamped the heart image 6 times in the same Distress ink colors that I'd used for the stripes, & die cut those with the coordinating die. I adhered each over its coordinating stripe with foam tape, following the curve that I'd die cut.
To assemble my card, I cut a piece of black cardstock, and adhered it to the top of a landscape-oriented white A2 card base. I then mounted my stamped panel over that. I really like how this card turned out! I'll be sending this to Send a Smile 4 Kids.
